This could be the perfect class for your child to explore their innate musical ability using the piano! Come and explore instrumental study in a group setting in our After School Piano Class! This class is designed as an introduction to keyboard instrument study. Class sessions will feature hand position and fingering, the musical alphabet and basic note reading in treble and bass clef, basic rhythmic patterns found in children’s song literature, call-and-response practice, and listening activities. The benefits of group study include the social aspects of music-making, such as singing, movement, and guided listening, as well as learning to play in an ensemble.
Group study requires less time for “practicing” than private lessons, and practice assignments are age-appropriate and easy to complete in ten minutes a day, several times per week.
Students must have a keyboard or piano at home at the time of enrollment, and are asked to bring a three-ring binder to the first class. All assignment sheets and repertoire will be provided by the instructor.
