 tudents learn what\nit means to be an excellent babysitter through lesson
 s on responsibility\,\nsafety\, decision-making\, and positive behavior g
 uidance. Participants also\nexplore how to care for children and infants 
 from mealtime to bedtime\, including\nbasic childcare routines. Participa
 nts also explore how to start their own\nbabysitting business and communi
 cate effectively with families.\n\nTopics include:\n• Being the Best Baby
 sitter — expectations\, using a simple decision-making\nmodel & the busin
 ess of babysitting.\n• Positive Play & Behavior — promoting good behavior
 \, guiding younger kids &\nmanaging stress\n• Caring for Infants & Childr
 en — ages/stages milestones\, feeding\, diapering\n& bedtime routines\n\n
 Students leave with the confidence and skills to support families and\nsu
 ccessfully take on babysitting opportunities!\n\nParents: please read the

 ation Policy & Class Guidelines\n\nCancellation fee is $10 per class.\nPl
 ease arrive at least 5 minutes early so we can begin on time.\nA short br
 eak will be provided\; students may bring their own snack and beverage.\n
 Personal devices must be secured during class. A “device hotel” will be a
 vailable.\nAccessibility devices are permitted\, however we are unable to
  provide them for this course.\n\nEntrance Instructions\nFrom the parking
  lot\, walk toward the right side of the building facing the street and g
 o up the stairs to the entrance door there.\nPlease do not use the main f
 ront doors at the top of the large front stairs\, nor the ground-level do
 or on the right side without stairs.\n\nThe parking lot is located on the
  right side of the building.\n----\nElizabeth McCann is a 3rd and 4th gra
 de teacher in New Haven and has 10 years of\nexperience working with chil
 dren ages 6-14 through her work at Deer Lake Day\nCamp. For the past four
  summers\, she has been the Counselor in Training Director\nat Deer Lake\
 , working to mentor teens about best practices while working with\nyounge
 r children. She has her B.S. in sociology from Ithaca College and a M.S.\
 nin Elementary Education. Elizabeth is thrilled to help future babysitter
 s learn\nhow to best manage behaviors while working with children!
