In 1996 I was a concert pianist, piano teacher of 25 years, wanna-be scientist, and the mom of an energetic four year old son.  I saw a wide range of musicality in the piano students I taught - I HAD QUESTIONS! 

• When does musical development begin and what’s the best way to support it?
• How do very young children develop musically and become expressive, competent, comfortable music makers?
• How can I help children form a foundation to be a music maker early in life?
• How can I build a fun and comfortable musical community with other families that will best support my son's musical development?

 In Music Together^® program I discovered a program that is  developmentally appropriate, organic, and FUN! I love the intelligent, diverse musical repertoire and firm research basis from The Music Together Lab School in Princeton, opened in 1987, and still open!

Since opening in 1996 with one teacher (me) East Bay Music Together has grown to offer classes at 15 locations in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Our wonderful teachers have had the privilege of bringing the Joy of Family Music Making  to over 45,000 East Bay families in our mixed age, babies, and big kid classes in  UC Berkeley Early Childhood Learning Centers, preschools, Head Start Centers, Children's Hospital Oakland, and a residential treatment/incarceration facility for women with young children.
