For infants not yet crawling
It is never too early to begin making music with your baby.
Music Together® Babies is designed especially for new parents and caregivers with infants from birth through 8 months. In this nurturing class, you’ll learn how to interact musically with your baby through singing, movement, rhythm play, gentle purposeful touch, and playful sound-making.
Babies are naturally musical. Long before they can speak, sit up, or clap along, they are taking in the sounds, rhythms, patterns, and emotional cues around them. In class, you’ll learn how to recognize and respond to your baby’s earliest musical behaviors and support their development through simple, meaningful musical play.
Your teacher will guide you through songs and activities that support bonding, communication, body awareness, listening, early brain development, and your baby’s natural musical growth. You’ll leave with practical ideas for using music throughout the day—to soothe, connect, energize, transition, and enjoy your baby.
This class is as much for the grownups as it is for the babies: a chance to slow down, connect with other families, learn, and build confidence as your baby’s first and most important music-maker.
More than most people realize. Babies are listening, watching, feeling rhythm, responding to voices, and absorbing patterns from birth. In a Babies class, your baby experiences music through your voice, movement, touch, facial expressions, and emotional connection. These early experiences support bonding, communication, listening, early brain development, and musical development.
You can start any time after birth. Music Together Babies classes are designed for infants from birth through 8 months. Starting early gives you practical tools for bonding, soothing, playing, and communicating through music during your baby’s first months.
Not at all. Your baby does not need a perfect voice; your baby needs your voice. Babies are especially tuned in to the voices of the people who love them. In class, you’ll learn easy ways to sing, chant, move, and play musically with your baby, even if you do not think of yourself as musical.
Yes. Music Together Babies classes use the same rich Music Together music but the class is designed especially for infants and new parents. The pace, activities, and parent education are focused on babies’ earliest musical responses and on helping caregivers bring music into everyday routines. Mixed-age classes are also wonderful for babies, and if you have an older sibling they can come together, but the Babies class gives extra support for this very early stage.
