Dear Nutcracker Families -
To help all families prepare for this week (especially those new to Nutcracker or with younger dancers), we wanted to share the following drop-off and pick-up details for rehearsals and performances this Wednesday-Sunday (12/4 - 12/8) at ISU's Braden Auditorium.
*The 2024 Nutcracker Info Packet is available online on our 2024 Nutcracker site, where you can find all the details you need to know including full Tech Week Rehearsal and Performance Schedules.
**These times are approximate. Miss Eka will make every effort to start/end per the schedule, but this might not always be possible during final rehearsals.
For performances (Fri/Sat/Sun), dancers can be picked-up at the end of each performance at the following approximate times:
Note: To ensure the health and safety of your dancers, we will not allow younger dancers to leave the building without a parent or guardian. Contact numbers confirmed at check-in may be used to notify parents/guardians of changes or dancers still waiting for pick-up.
Make-up/Hair Reminder: All dancers should arrive at dress rehearsals (and performances) with hair and make-up ready for the stage.
We are excited your dancers will be participating in this exciting annual tradition!
Dancers are encouraged to watch the following tutorial videos to learn how best to apply stage make-up and ballet buns for dress rehearsals and performances.
*Note for Ballet Company Dancers: Be sure to confirm with Miss Eka about hair - typically in a middle part with a bun on the crest of the head.
*A special thank you to Andrea & Lauren Powell (Make-up) and Lisa & Lucella Gudino (Ballet Bun) for their time and expertise respectively for these tutorials.
Dancers will need the following attire for performances:
See below for specific attire details by cast part.

Nutcracker Season is here and it is time to plan our 2024 Nutcracker Program!
Please be sure to talk with any possible businesses or family/friends who may be interested in purchasing a program ad or congratulatory message this year, as all proceeds go towards our Nutcracker production expenses and benefit Twin Cities School of Dance.
Program Ads (Due Oct. 12) Full-color advertisement space is again available for businesses and families in the annual Nutcracker Ballet program. Program orders can be completed electronically this year to make the process more convenient.
We do ask our TCSD families to use the electronic order form, however, paper order forms are available at the front desk and online if needed for outside businesses. *Reminder: We ask all Ballet Company members to sell or purchase one program ad to offset the costs of the program. |
Congratulatory Messages (Due Oct. 19) We will also again be offering the opportunity for you to share short, personalized messages of congratulations and encouragement with Nutcracker dancers in the full-color 2024 Nutcracker Ballet program! (example) To order your “one-liner” messages for the program:
*Reminder: All non-company cast members receive one (1) free Congratulatory Message for the program as part of their Nutcracker Participation Fee. Fees will only be added for any additional messages ordered for each dancer. |
NUTCRACKER APPAREL |
2024 Nutcracker apparel orders are now being accepted!
Click here to place your order with Custom Ink: Nutcracker Apparel 2024.
All items will be shipped to the studio directly and distributed as soon as we receive them. Orders are expected the week of November 6.
General, non-company casting for this year’s Nutcracker will again be a combination of auditions and sign-ups. All current and aspiring TCSD dancers are welcome to audition and sign-up. (Please note not all dancers who audition will be cast, but they will still have the option to sign-up for other parts in the show.)
Auditions & Cast Sign-up Details
A one-time participation fee will be applied to accounts after casting is complete. (See the PARTICIPATION FEES section below for more details.)
